Preschool Idea for $1...

It is back to school, and after getting acclimated to all our new routine over
the past few weeks, we are now back to preschool and working on a few
new projects at the house. While at Target a few weeks ago, I picked up foam shapes for $1,
and they have been perfect for helping with shapes and colors. We have been working
on colors and shapes, so while working in a workbook is great, this
is just a little added fun to add to it. The kids love to play with these when
we are working with them. It makes it easy to learn, I will ask where a [color] is or a
[shape] is, then we use them for patterns and counting how many of each
color or shape there is in the group.

After getting a list of what kindergartner's need to know, so they are ready to start school, I
was amazed how how much it has changed over the years. When my 9 year old
started, it didn't seem so overwhelming, but now you have to have a master's degree to start.
With that being said, we have really been working on colors and shapes and patterns. All this
being said, I have started to wonder if my little guy isn't a little (or alot) color blind. I am
not sure if he is just having a good time pushing my buttons or if he really isn't grasping
his colors. We are going to have to work on this a little more and
figure out a good way to get him to know and say the colors correctly.
