Pallet Headboard Project

I have slowly been trying to finish one room in the house
at a time, which is hard since I buy everything used or wait for
it to go on sale... but after looking around and really trying
to figure out a good 'decore' to go with my son's
choice of a 'History Themed' bedroom, I decided I would do
some american flag colors with some historical
accent items. I started out trying to think of a color, and decided
a royal blue would be good with white baseboards and
crown molding. After getting all of his room painted (which
was quit a task because his room is good size and has lots of windows,
doors, and corners) I did some looking and found some
American Flag bedding on clearance online and got it
ordered. Then the hard part was searching Pinterest for
what seemed like forever trying to figure out a headboard
idea... I kept seeing all these cute pallet wood ideas,
but nothing that was exactly what I wanted. So, with a little help
from my dad, I took two recycled pallets from a
local grocery store, pulled them apart, and reassembled them
for a headboard product with a shelf. Then I stained
the wood to be an old barn color (perfect for an old timey
historical barn) that was left over from another project.
My total cost for my headboard was $0.

Headboard reassembled...

Headboard stained...

Headboard finished... which my son is happy with! :)
